On 30 July 2026, Ceuta experienced within forty-eight hours what no European border should ever have to endure: tens of thousands of people estimates range from 50,000 to 72,000 hurled against the border perimeter, with a death toll that sources place at between 72 and 88. Analysts disagree over the degree of premeditation, but they converge on the essential point: a movement of that magnitude does not occur against the will of the Moroccan security apparatus.
